Ok. This morning on my summer run through the neighborhood I heard a sound that I hadn't heard in a long time.Running water. Now we are in a drought situation here in Texas and water in any form or fashion sparks anticipation. so I'm gonna look. What I saw was baffling! An open fire hydrant gushing water under the supervision of a city employee. Now this simply is not making sense. All that beautiful clear cool water pouring onto the hot dry pavement. not a plant, animal or bucket around to catch a drop. I wanted to stop and say wait a minute I'll be right back with some buckets or lets call the neighborhood kids out to play. something.
This led me to today's entry...Things that don't make sense! We all have them. Moments in your life when you stop and say, "Wait a Minute. Now what?" I have been a public school teacher for the last 14 years and there have been times when this question was asked. My wise teaching partner would stop me and say, "Now why are you trying to make sense out of something that doesn't. This is public education." So I'm wondering, what are things that don't make sense to you. Below I have my list and as I get older, the list gets longer. Please feel free to create your own.
1. why perfectly healthy people who have taken care of themselves get cancer.
2. why are people on their cell phones allowed to be in the left lane on the freeway going below the limited speed.
3. why do people that want children can't have them and those that shouldn't do.
4. why are rude people allowed to be blatantly rude and not receive a ticket. (please elect me sheriff.)
5. why do professional sports "players" make an obscene amount of money and "teachers" make a pittance.
6. to be continued.
My good friend says that someday a big book will fall out of the sky and have all the answers to all our questions in it. Until then I'll just keep wondering. 'til next time, Bridget
